OK, I realize this isn't really the point of this game, but it really seems like it would be a very cool use. My gf wants to learn to drive, and it's very difficult to find drivers ed programs out there for on-road practicing on the computer, much less a version that runs on Linux.

This runs very well on my Linux box and the realism (at least for the feel of the car) is very good. I may try to make a track for doing something like drivers ed myself, but I was wondering if anyone else had the same idea? Alternatively, has anyone else done an internet track for this? Practicing alone is one thing, but practicing in real traffic is something else.

Well, it's clear that the main goal of ManiaDrive is not to learn how to drive correctly ... It may be the exact opposite, in facts :)

But it's right that the current physics of the game is quiet realistic and may be a good base to start a educational driving simulation, including gearbox, road rules, traffic, and so on. This is a good idea for a new project, I think !

Anyone interested into starting such project ? :)
