Hello,

Google Sketcup is a really easy 3d modeling tool and propose lot's of free models.

It's quite easy to work with sketchup and raydium, but you still need blender.

After modeling something with sketchup, export in google earth 4 model.

The kmz file is only zipped. Unzip it with standard unzip tool.
In the directory structure you can find the model in model subdir wich is collada format.
As blender can import collada, import the model with blender.
Change all the texture ans save as targa raw under blender. It's fastidious but perhaps a script can help.

You can now export in tri format and enjoy with raydium.

I make a very small test quickly, perhaps it won't work all the time but i need to mention it.

Have a nice day
Ouille.

Interesting test ! :)
Collada seems the become THE new standard for 3D, we probably should have a look to it one day ...

One dev of blender told me that collada was complex for an standard...

Post subject:  Jpeg Texture

Hello,

I know that Xfennec is not fan of Jpeg Texture.
But importing texture as jpeg can simplify model import.

Is it a small work to add this jpeg support, or need deeper modifications ?

Targa seem to be great but for small tests jpeg can be usefull.

Have a nice day

EVIL ! Jpeg is EVIL ! Burn the eretic ! :)

We already have a link to the libjpeg since Raydium use it for frame capture and video playback. So adding jpeg support for texture is a very easy task. But I think it should be a secret feature ;)

Hello,

I was afraid of your answer, i was right

I'll try to have a look to texture loading. I think it's the right place to handle jpeg.

Ok it will be a secret feature.

Perhaps we can add a define to allow only this feature for special user (joke).
Have a nice day
