Bonjour,

J'ai voulu testé la version 1.01 (pris les binaires, je n'ai pas recompilé) et j'ai un bug (je pense). Lorsque je commence un circuit, j'ai le décompte avant le départ, et quand il arrive à 0, la caméra s'éloigne de la voiture, et au final je ne vois qu'un nuage blanc... Si j'appui sur l'accélérateur, le compteur augmente donc le jeu n'est pas totalement dans les choux... Mais bon :)

J'ai une Ubuntu dapper à jour, une radeon 8500 avec les pilotes xorg (pas de fglrx).

Et voilà:
A noté que j'ai l'impression que la caméra alterne entre dessus, dessous, avec à chaque alternance un peu plus de distance. Le nombre de fps tourne autour des 2 ou 3, ce qui me semble relativement faible, mais p-e que les pilotes libres Xorg ne suffisent pas...

J'imagine en effet que tu dois avoir des mauvaises performances...Malheureusement pour toi l'accélération 3D fournie par les pilotes propriétaires est énorme. L'utilisation de drivers non-proprio est de ce fait peu testée et donc je (ca n'engage que moi) te conseille de l'éviter, si ce n'est pas contre ta religion :)

Néanmoins il y a bug puisque tu ne devrais pas avoir de "nuages".

Effectivement, c'est bien un problème de pilotes. Les nuages sont un effet de bord puisque avec 3 FPS (et encore) la "smooth camera" est incapable de compenser le lag entre les images et se trouve catapultée hors du circuit.

Ça tombe bien, je ne compte pas installer ces pilotes proprios. Ça n'est pas l'endroit pour sortir le speech pro-libre qui va bien avec, donc j'en reste là :)

C'est dommage, c'est tout. Je resterais donc à jouer à quake3 et ses dérivés :)

Juste par curiosité, qu'est ce qui rend le jeu si "lourd" ? "lourd" dans le sens que des jeux qui me semblaient plus violent graphiquement tournaient mieux que maniadrive. Par exemple, j'ai réussi à finir la demo de doom3 ou jouer 5min à quake4 (3fps étant la moyenne lors de scene en extérieur où quand il y a bcp de détails). Quake3 fonctionne à merveille ... Ce que j'ai vu de MD ne me semblait pas si révolutionnaire... Pardonnez mon ignorance, mais je suis curieux... Est-ce que:
[ ] le jeux utiliste une extension absente des pilotes libres ?
[ ] Est-ce un "manque" d'optimisation du jeu qui fait ressortir un manque d'optimisation des pilotes libres ?
[ ] Ou finalement "Obiwan kenobi" ?

Ta question est très bonne ! Il faudrait profiler le jeu sur ta machine, puisque nous avons eu des rapports qui faisait état d'un framerate tout à fait correct (de l'ordre de 20 fps, de mémoire) lors de la beta Linux sur LinuxFr.org et ce avec les pilotes ATI libres. Il y a effectivement quelque chose qui semble gêner ton pilote. (peut être la résolution du jeu ? Cf l'option --window et le fichier raydium.db)
