Hello,
I am trying to build an Ubuntu install package, but I found the following problems when running the game:
1 - When I go into Story Mode it tells me it is already completed (I didn't played it before)
2 - There is no sound
3 - The game just hangs when passing a checkpoint

The game was build from the source... I have tried it on both Ubunty Edgy and Fesisty

Hi,

You should have a look to the terminal you used to launch the game, it seems that there's a few missing or misplaced files (like PHP files for example).

If you can't get it by yourself, paste the log here, so we can help you.

Look by yourself: As said in my first post, a file is missing ...
Quote:
Warning: PHP Startup: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/share/games/maniadrive/mania_story.php

It is trying to open mania_drive.story.beg, it is not included on the source, shouldn't it be retrieved from the server and saved on the ../mania_drive/data dir ?

Something more helpfull than "It misses a file" would be welcome, Thanks

Maybe the game folder has no writting permissions...
And you can check this page of the wiki: http://wiki.raydium.org/wiki/RaydiumInstallEn
I put there the ubuntu dependencies, So maybe the sound problem could be solved with that.

The game folder is not expected to have write permissions, that is why it creates the ~/.mania_drive folder, and it does fetch several files into it.
As for the required libraries they are properly installed, otherwise the game would not compile...

Thanks

mania_story.php is not supposed to find its data in the user home directory, but only in the game data directory.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your package should provide binaries and data, no ? So data should be in "/usr/games/maniadrive" too (including mania_drive.story.beg and mania_drive.story.pro).

Perhaps you should explain how do you want to create your package, since I can't see the problem here (do you have a look to ManiaDrive packages of others distros ?).

Sorry, I had the wrong idea the game would fetch the data to the home dir during it's first run.
Can I use the data package from the data on the ManiaDrive 1.01 - data pack , or do I need to use the data from the static bins+data 1.1 game dir ?

Thanks

You should use the latest data+binary pack (seems to me that 1.1 and 1.2 shares the same data, but I'm not sure). I can provide sort of "official" data pack for 1.2 if it helps you.

It would help because I will have packages with the binaries for each architecture and a common package with the data.

Thanks

I've added the data package to ManiaDrive website. You may have to wait a bit so that all SourceForge mirrors are up-to-date.
