Bonjour,
Je suis sous Kubuntu 7.10 et depuis l'arrivée des drivers ati 6.7.19* ManiaDrive est très lent(6/7 FPS maximum, même sans les ombres et en fenêtre 320x240) le bug est rapporté: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12240 mais n'a l'air d'intéresser personne et comme je n'ai de problème avec aucun autre jeu j'en déduit que Maniadrive/Raydium fait un truc spécifique que le driver n'aime pas.

Yop,

Ce problème se produit sur plusieurs circuits ? Le test peut être intéressant sur un petit circuit, puisqu'il semble que ce soit la création de la display list qui pose problème. Autre test : tester avec une vieille version du moteur (avant l'implémentation des shaders par exemple), ce qui doit être simple puisqu'il me semble que les versions précédentes du jeu sont encore dispo sur sourceforge, et pourquoi pas, avec une version plus récente du moteur (SVN). Si tu as besoin d'aide sur ce dernier point, n'hésite pas.

Le bug se produit sur tous les circuits que j'ai pu débloquer avant d'en avoir marre de ramer(3 premiers du beginner et du pro) il se produit aussi sur le premier circuit de MD 1.01(pas testé les autres).
J'ai chopé le SVN de Raydium et je suis entrain de le compiler, mais une fois que ça sera fait, comment dire à MD d'utiliser le raydium compilé?

ManiaDrive est dans les sources de Raydium. Un fois le "make" terminé, tu as simplement un "./odyncomp.sh mania_drive.c" à réaliser dans le répertoire de Raydium. Le premier lancement va engendrer le téléchargement de toutes les données du jeu, soit patient :) (si tu as une connexion trop lente, il est possible de copier les données de ta version "normale" de ManiaDrive).

Le configure de Raydium est enfin fini, j'ai pas lancé le make, mais un ./ocomp.sh test6.c me donne 4 FPS...

Et une vieille version de ManiaDrive ?

Même problem avec test8.c(4 FPS) et willou semble être lent aussi.

Exact, pardon, je n'avais pas vu la première partie de ton post.
Après quelques recherches, je n'arrive pas a cerner l'origine du problème.

Nous avions déjà eu une situation de ce genre : viewtopic.php?t=578&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
Je te laisse voir si tu trouves de nouvelles pistes. La difficulté de ce problème, c'est que seul le driver libre radeon est concerné, sur certaines cartes seulement, et que l'erreur en question n'explique pas pas grand chose. Il est effectivement possible que Raydium effectue quelque chose "d'étrange" quelque part, bien sûr, mais il reste étrange que ce problème soit si rare.

Voilà un test possible, probablement :
Dans un terminal :

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=.
./odyncomp.sh willou.c
- on sort de l'application
gdb test
- on arrive dans la console de GDB
break raydium_object_draw
run
- le programme se lance ... et se bloque lors du premier appel à la fonction en question. On retourne dans le terminal GDB pour entrer :

... et ainsi de suite jusqu'a l'apparition du message "Ran out of temps". Si tu colles ici les lignes qui précèdent l'erreur, on va peut être arriver à voir ce qui contrarie ce driver ...

Un truc que je viens de remarquer je n'ai pas de lenteur(ni de warning) avec freemove.c, je teste les autres pour voir ce qui passe et ce qui ne passe pas.

Alors:
- freemove.c mania2.c et shader_test.c marchent sans warning et ne lagguent pas
- volcano.c fait un segmentation fault avant d'afficher quoi que ce soit
- webcam.c fait planter le système(obligé d'utiliser les magic sysrq keys)
- j'ai pas pu tester rrp_play.c parce que je n'ai pas trouvé de .rrp dans le svn de raydium.
- Tous les autres affichent le warning et sont lents.

Etrange ... surtout quand on sait que willou.c et freemove.c sont deux programmes pour ainsi dire identiques !

Manifestement, le driver semble poser problème lorsque Raydium lui demande la lecteur d'une display list. C'est encore trop vague, et je te propose qu'on relance le même test avec GDB, après avoir fait un "make clean", activé la ligne "#define DEBUG_RENDER_DISABLE_DISPLAYLISTS" dans raydium/config.h et recompilé willou.c

Même si je suis une bille en C et que je n'y connais rien en openGL j'ai un peu bidouillé les sources de raydium, pour essayer de voir d'où ça venait, apparement il "ran out of temps" au moment où raydium_rendering_from_to(raydium_object_start[o],raydium_object_end[o]); de raydium/object.c est appelé
Le code de la fonction dans raydium/render.c est complexe mais j'ai remarqué que le warning apparaissait aussi si on utilisait la fonction raydium_rendering_from_to_simple, de là j'ai essayé de bidouiller des trucs pour voir ce qui embêtait le driver. Et apparement ce sont tous les appelles à glVertex3f, même un truc aussi bête que:

Comme seul contenu de la fonction raydium_rendering_from_to_simple affiche le warning.

Si tu retrouves ce plantage même avec des GL_POINTS, c'est que le problème se trouve ailleurs. J'ai aussi du mal à comprendre pourquoi les autres applications GL tournent sans problème sur ta machine, dès lors. Dans le thread dont je parlais il y'a quelques messages, les utilisateurs constataient le même message lorsqu'ils inséraient un cube sous Blender. As-tu moyen de tenter ce test ?
Autre point, j'ai la possiblité de mettre la main sur une X600SE, existe-t'il une version live de ta distrib ou je puisse trouver les mêmes versions que toi de X.org et du driver radeon ?
